Back around 2010, a friend asked me to shape something a little different for his longboard quiver. He mostly rides First Point Malibu and, at about 150 lbs, isn’t a big guy. His boards range from a 7'6" hull to a 9'0" longboard, but he wanted something in between—around 8'6" to 8'8"—with a more traditional feel.
The idea was a refined, slightly more slender outline: narrower, less parallel, with a cleaner nose (fewer “ears”) and a more subtle tail with less hip. The construction is straightforward—a single stringer, low-profile rocker, and light glassing.
This model is available in both square tail and rounded pin versions. It pairs well with a mid-length flex fin, as well as a smaller longboard fin.
What I found especially interesting is that this design translates really well to full traditional longboard lengths, not just the mid-length range it was originally intended for. - Lance Carson
